Take Ethnic Studies when it makes sense for you —
SFUSD high schools offer an amazing range of elective courses that allow students to explore interests, build college and career readiness, and deepen their academic experience. These include world languages, visual and performing arts, advanced science and math, and Career Technical Education (CTE) courses.
As SFUSD implements a one-year Ethnic Studies graduation requirement with a pilot curriculum, it’s important for families to understand how this new mandate may impact student schedules - particularly when it comes to elective availability.
This site is designed to provide clear, factual information about course planning, including how to access electives that matter to students’ long-term goals, and in the near future, what alternative pathways exist for meeting SFUSD’s Ethnic Studies graduation requirement.
